Placements are a subject of much discussion among students of professional colleges. With the large number of MNCs that come in almost every year with the aim of recruiting only the best students to their organization, students in professional colleges are often under pressure to be constantly at their best. News about students bagging placements worth anywhere from 20 lakhs to 75 lakhs are splashed across papers almost every day. So how is it done?

When it comes to MBA, India has almost 7000 students, if not more, graduating from the top 26 business schools almost every year. The demand for B-school graduates are at an all time high as the need for new engagement models and agile value chains are on the rise. Among the top three companies that are snapping up B-school graduates in 2017 according to a survey are Cognizant, ICICI Bank, and Deloitte.

Recently, a student graduating from IIM, Ahmedabad turned down an offer of a Rs. 75 lakh pay package. He had graduated engineering before he decided to pursue MBA in the prestigious business school. He was offered the role of product manager at Infosys, Bangalore. While doing his engineering this brilliant student, along with a few other students were selected by the Defence Research and Development Office (DRDO) at the national level to work on the Brahmos Project. With just three months of self preparation, the student managed to crack the Common Admission Test (CAT). It is only natural that he was the first to get placement in his campus and in US for a whopping salary of 1.2 lakhs US dollars o Rs.70 lakhs no less. The young man turned down the offer and opted to work at Bangalore for a lesser package. He plans to start a business of his own someday, but before that he wishes to gain his share of knowledge from the industry.

Despite the subdued mood on the hiring front, blue chip companies are in hot pursuit of talented and skilled business students. Cognizant alone hired nearly 600 MBA students in 2017. One of the most common methods that are used in hiring students is Pre Placement Offers or PPO. Students are offered internships or apprenticeships during a certain period to test their capabilities. Able students are hired to work for the company as a full-time employee.
E-commerce, followed by IT and operations are the sectors with significant opportunities for business students. Digital profiles are becoming increasingly popular among students who wish to pursue a career in marketing. Among e-commerce recruiters, Amazon stands at the top and increased recruitment by nearly 18% this year. Consulting companies like Cognizant and Ernst and Young however, continue to be the top sectors to exhibit significant demand for b-school graduates.
One of the reasons why companies prefer business students is because of their business acumen and specializations in various areas like marketing, operations, and so on, which makes it easier for organizations to train them for different job roles.
Conclusion : Due to the Quality of Education that includes Various Industrial Visits and Valuable Seminars and practical Exposure from the Experienced faculty & Successful Entrepreneurs, 80-95% of MBA graduates form Top B-Schools/University have been placed in MNC’s with Minimum package of 6 L.P.A and also with shares of the company, while some MBA graduates got investments for their Creative Startup ideas, Believing that would lead to a successful revolution in the market.
